A more flexible stock rule

Keep these points in mind. The objective remains eight complete same-suit King-to-Ace runs. Relaxed Spider on j3oz.com permits stock deals while columns are empty. The game still uses 104 cards in ten columns. Choose one suit, two suits or four suits using the game controls.

Deal into empty columns

The relaxed stock rule does not allow mixed-suit groups to move together. A stock card dealt to an empty column becomes that column's first face-up card. An empty column no longer prevents a stock deal in this variant. The relaxed stock rule does not change the rank requirement for ordinary moves.

Ten columns and a stock

Keep these points in mind. The stock contains fifty cards for five later deals. The first four columns have six cards each and the remaining six have five. The opening tableau contains 54 cards. Only the bottom card of each opening column is face up.

Move a single card

Keep these points in mind. An Ace cannot receive a lower-ranked card. The two cards do not need to share a suit for a single-card placement. An exposed card may land on another exposed card exactly one rank higher. A King needs an empty destination because no rank is higher.

Follow one suit

A descending group moves as a unit only when every selected card shares a suit. Same-suit building can reduce the work needed to separate mixed sequences later. A break in rank prevents the entire selected group from moving together. A suit change can leave a smaller movable group at the bottom of a column.

Use empty columns thoughtfully

Keep these points in mind. A new stock row fills every empty column with one card. Empty columns remain useful for separating temporary mixed builds. Any exposed card or legal same-suit group can occupy an empty column. You may preserve an empty column until you decide to deal from the stock.

Bring in another row

Dealing can block an existing sequence as well as reveal new combinations. You cannot direct an individual stock card to a chosen destination. A stock deal places one card onto each of the ten columns. Undo restores the previous arrangement when the stock-deal snapshot is available.

Clear the table

The following details apply here. Changing the number of suits does not change the number of required runs. The game removes a complete run automatically at the bottom of a column. A complete run contains thirteen face-up cards in one suit from King to Ace. Eight collected runs are required to finish Relaxed Spider.
